Later that year, the sisters decided to change the name of their band to 78violet and started to create a harder, rockier sound compared to their early pop tunes. In addition to their band duties, both girls have also pursued careers in acting.
Aly, the older sister, worked with Disney for many years, first landing the role of Keely Teslow on Phil of the Future and then starring in several movies like Now You See It and Cow Belles. She has been playing the piano since she was five years old and the guitar since she was 13. In 2010, Alyson got a big break and was cast opposite Ashley Tisdale as a lead on the newly announced CW show Hellcats. Alyson plays the character of Marti Perkins, a law student who loses her scholarship and has to join the cheerleading squad to pay tuition.
Like her sister, Amanda discovered her musical talent at a young age, playing the piano by the time she was four. Amanda also plays various other instruments including guitar and bongos.
